FAQ

How do we start?

A 15-minute initial call (no charge) with me typically serves as a warm introduction, allowing you to gauge my approach and personality. During this conversation, it's important to share your reasons for seeking therapy while also asking questions about my background and methods to ensure a good match for your needs. Finding a therapist who resonates with you can significantly enhance the therapeutic experience and support your journey.

A good therapist-client match fosters trust and rapport, which are essential for effective communication and deeper exploration of issues. When therapists understand a client's unique background and personality, they can tailor their approach, leading to better outcomes and increased engagement. This compatibility not only reduces anxiety but also enhances satisfaction with therapy, promoting long-term success in achieving therapeutic goals.

What is Walk and Talk Therapy?

Instead of the traditional office session, we meet outside and walk.  Sometimes the simplest and most obvious things are the most innovative.

What about bad weather?

We will grab a raincoat or bring an umbrella.  But if you prefer to meet online we can do that. Your call.

Is this a cardio workout?

No. This is slow to moderate walking, not running or even fast walking. You set the pace. But after 50 minutes you will feel better!

Do you work online?

Yes. Online Therapy Sessions are conducted via a HIPAA compliant platform.

Typical locations?

All walking sessions are at Steinberger Slough Trail in Redwood Shores.

Do you accept insurance?

My fee is paid in full at the end of each session. At the end of each month, I can provide my clients with invoices which they can submit to their insurance companies for reimbursement.

How do I access my out of network benefit?

On the back of your insurance card, there should be a toll-free number for questions related to your mental health benefit. When calling, be sure to check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:

  • What are my mental health benefits?

  • What is my deductible and has it been met?

  • How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?

  • How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider?

  • What is the usual and customary amount for a therapist in SF area?

  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?
